Network Marketing Terms you must know to be successful in the business.

If you expect to start a successful network marketing company or build a very large network, you had better get familiarized with the terminology or jargon!

Builder
A builder is a distributor who is actively looking for downlines. A builder is not the same as a customer who only consumes the products or recommends them to friends.

Upline
You are in their organization. An upline usually earns commission from your group volume. You may have several uplines possibly up to 10-20 levels in depth. Normally, an upline is responsible for your success. An upline may not necessarily be an upline leader/mentor.

Upline Leader/Mentor
This is an upline that you actively seek counseling from on how to build your business. They are here to guide you and are here to mentor you and make sure you succeed in the business.

Sponsor

You are directly under him or her. Normally they are the one who introduced you to the company. They are in your organization. Depending on the nature of the plan, your commission from their group usually is smaller the deeper they are in the organization. Sometimes, your downline’s downline could be many levels deep in your organization so you might not even know him personally.

Sideline/Crossline
These people are not in your organization and neither are you in theirs. Basically there are no monetary relationship between your group and the sideline’s group. However, depending on the culture promoted in the company, they are either perceived as the worst competitors, or valuable allies. Take note also, that somewhere along the line, they are also in your upline’s group, so helping your sideline means helping your upline and his group.

Front Line
These are downlines that are personally sponsored by you or are directly under you. You must be directly responsible for their success because you are the one who introduced them to this business. Furthermore, the development of your frontline will determine the success and failure of an entire downline group.

Leg
A leg is a downline group in your network starting from the person you personally sponsored. He and all the downlines under him are considered one of your legs. A distributor usually develops many legs simultaneously.

Width
The number of people you can personally sponsor. Matrixes and Binaries usually limit the maximum width. Normally a strong downline is one that builds and develops a very large width.
Depth
Depth refers to the level of your downline’s downline. A person who has build depth usually has a secure organization.

Override
An override means you are paid a certain percentage over your downline’s group. Normally an override is calculated on your frontline only.

Profit Sharing Pool
Profit sharing is a bonus that is paid out to achievers who have reached certain conditions in the marketing plan. A pool is a collection of sales volume from distributors all over the company regardless of whether the sales volume comes from your sideline.

Maintenance
A mandatory (sometimes optional depending on certain criteria) sales volume a distributor must achieve. Often maintenance is done to override your downline, become eligible for profit sharing, or maintain a certain rank or even the distributorship. Normally this is enforced because the company needs to make money as well.

Total Payout
This means that a percentage of a product sold by the company that is set aside for distributors and retail sales only. The company only keeps the remainde

I learned about this company about 3 years ago. I was at a point in my life where I wasn’t able to keep my weight down. At the time I was at a Dani Johnson convention “first steps to success” and learning many things from her. Did not know much about web2.0 blogs, squidoo pages and the like so I was learning how to be the best and telephone prospecting.

Why did I research this company?

Isagenix focuses on the total health of the individual not just on helping them loose weight. The idea behind this companies product is not just about weight loss. What we see with many weight loss products is that you may use them and the idea is to decrease you intake and some may loose weight but we forget about the toxins in the body that causes the body to build up fat to protect itself. Isagenix products help remove the toxins from the body thus making you feel and making you able to sustain your weight loss in the event you decide to come of the product.

The comp plan for this company is a binary one “we will be discussing compensation plans in future post”. Basically you have two legs beneath you position, one on the right and one on the left. You receive a commission of your lower volume leg. An example is you have a few people who have decided to try the products. On your left leg you have sold over $2500 worth of products, on your right leg you have sold $3500 worth of products isagenix will pay you a commission off your left leg.

The way to really make an impact in your isagenix business is by recruiting others. This is a way to leverage of the work of many instead of just your work. You teach others how to build a business and create a big downline of distributors.

Think your healthy, watch this.

When the telecommunication industry deregulated so many years ago customers had the opportunity to choose who their provider was. Companies such as Excel Communications came onto the scene and really made it a viable business of helping others make a significant income while educating their friends and family of the benefits of switching.

Now there seems to be another deregulated market in Natural Gas and Electricity. Although many states still are not deregulated there many who are in the process of giving consumers a choice of service providers and that is a great opportunity for companies such as Ignite.

If you have been looking at the Ignite business opportunity I would say you have made a good choice. Energy deregulation is on an upward swing and is a great opportunity for an individual who is willing to work the business to make a significant income, the industry will explode and expand and the years go by.

The cost to join ignite is $329 but at the time of this writing the company has made it $299.00 because of the economy and the knowledge that many people are struggling. I have read many posts online that complain about the cost of joining this company. My comment to those individuals is “you get what you pay for”. It is fairly easy to make most of that money back within the first two weeks.

Like many networking marketing companies out there and it is my hope to cover several different ones on my blog, the only recurring cost associated with this company is $24.95 which is for the website, and a subscription to success magazine, this however is optional. Many other companies require you to spend upwards of $125 a month on product purchase in order to stay active with them. In today’s market many are looking for a business that doesn’t require you to spend too much money on a monthly basis.

One thing I do like about Ignite is the training the give to their associates. Every quarter the field leaders come together to help fellow associates with tips and ideas of how to your business flourish. When they launched in Georgia I was surprised that they even opened a local office so that associates can bring prospects to. Ignite has weekly meetings in different parts of Georgia which makes it easy for an associate to bring prospects to.

Strengths:
One strength of the opportunity is the service that they provide. How many people do you know who use natural gas or electricy. When the economy is bad like it is today how many people turn off their electricity or Natural gas. The opportunity to help others save on their natural gas and electricity is there. Now they will not always be the lowest but they will be very competitive and this is something you need to know upfront.

This company has been around for about 4 years and has gone through its growing pains. There many competitors who have popped up along the way who are now providing the same service. Competition is always a good thing and I encourage everyone who is considering this type of opportunity to check out each and every player in the market. Ignite is about to break all industry standards set by companies like yahoo, Google by being the first to hit 1 billion in revenue in the shortest time.

One thing you need to realize is that Ignite has done all this while only being in Texas and Georgia. Here is a list of states that now offer deregulated markets in natural gas and electricity, from this you will see the future this Network Marketing opportunity has.

Electricity Markets

Statewide Deregulation

AZ, TX, IL, MI, OH, PA, NY, ME, MA, CT, RI, NJ, DE, MD

Limited Deregulation

OR, NV, MT

Natural Gas Market

Limited Deregulation

CA, NM, WV, MA, MT, WY, CO, SD, NE, FL, IN, KY

Weakness:
Ignite is part of an industry with many regulations thus they have implemented standards that force their associates into doing their business the old school way. Don’t get me wrong many are making a living doing it that way. Now when I say old school I mean, you put your names list together of your top 100 people and you call them asking if they would be interested in looking at other means of making an income and in today’s economy there many who are. Once you have gone through that list one thing that usually happens is that you start buying leads and pitching your opportunity to them, it’s not easy but it can be done if you get the right kind of training and know that this is a business, do not beg anyone to join your opportunity. Web 2.0 is not in ignites vocabulary right now and we hope someday that they will change that.

Just for your own benefit here is the definition of network marketing. Network Marketing is a system for distributing goods and services through networks of thousands of independent sales people, associates or distributors. Each individual earns money by selling goods and services and by recruiting and sponsoring others who become part of their organization or the better term used to “downline”

Network Marketing of Multi-level marketing

is not illegal

isnt an opportunity to get rich quick of payments made by people to join your organization “thats a pyramid and is illegal.

it isnt an opportunity to get rich, you will have to put some work into it.

it isn’t an opportunity to let others build your organization for you.

it isnt just about salespeople.

unlike starting a traditional business, network marketing isnt expensive. Many company have low start up cost and for what you receive its a good bang for the buck.

it isnt a way for companies to sell a large amount of inventory to distributors.

it isn’t for people who cant follow a proven system

it isnt for individuals who are not willing to work.

Over the years network marketing has gotten a bad reputation, once someone has been through it once and they are not as successful as the wish to be, they turn there attention away from anything having to do with Network Marketing or (MLM).

Through the coming months we hope to change the way you think about this distribution channel and teach you other ways to build a network marketing using today’s technology.

STAY TUNED.
